What is RSO?
RSO (Rick Simpson Oil) is a type of full-spectrum cannabis extract named after the cannabis advocate who helped popularize it, Rick Simpson. RSO is considered a crude extract, meaning it undergoes minimal post-processing after extraction, which helps preserve a wide range of the plant’s naturally occurring compounds found in various cannabis products. Traditionally, RSO is extracted using ethanol, although some producers may opt for other methods such as hydrocarbon extraction. After extraction, the oil is decarboxylated to convert THCa into THC, making the extract ready for use. This heating process also removes residual solvents, resulting in a finished extract that is suitable for formulation and consumption, including RSO capsules.
